BFGoodrich certifies advisory ice detector on Falcon 50
Produced by the company's Aircraft Sensors Division, the system is an application of technology used on commercial and regional aircraft and supplements flight crew visual inspections. The company says it will detect the presence of rime, runback, and clear glaze ice using a magnetostrictive sensing probe that collects ice three times faster than a typical aircraft wing. When ice is detected, the flight crew is notified with a panel indicator.
Designed for installation during routine maintenance, STC, and retrofit kits include the ice detector, mounting and panel hardware, wiring harness, cockpit display module, installation hardware, and documentation.
