SAE World Headquarters of Automotive Engineers (SAE) has published a new book on the topic of multiaxial fatigue for the automotive, aerospace, and materials engineering markets.

"Multiaxial Fatigue" by Darrel F. Socie and Gary B. Marquis, provides a working knowledge of the fatigue damage processes and models under multiaxial states of stress and strain. The book introduces readers to the considerations of multiaxial fatigue that differentiate it from uniaxial fatigue.

This book focuses on the fatigue and fracture analysis of an induction hardened shaft subjected to combined bending and torsion. It includes the complexities of varying material and hardness distribution through thickness of the shaft along with residual stresses. Each chapter is written by different experts in the field and presents the latest research on these topics: Material and Process Information; Realistic Load Histories; Understanding the State of Stress; and Analytical Techniques and Tools.
