The MCA-6010 satellite communications antenna is a mechanically steered quad helical array. Currently installed at the top of Gulfstream and Challenger vertical stabilizers, the unit is designed to offer improved coverage over conventional phased array designs--greater than 95% compared with the minimum Inmarsat coverage requirements of 75%, according to the manufacturer.
The antenna supports six channels of simultaneous voice, fax or data, even at the edges of Inmarsat satellite coverage and is compatible with single and multi-channel satcom avionics conforming to the requirements of ARINC 741 and the Inmarsat System Definition Manual.
